Jan. 7, 2026 — Redmond, Wash. No confirmed reports of a recent overpass collapse forcing road closures in Redmond have been found across web searches, social media, or official alerts.
Social media posts, such as a KIRO 7 update on an I-90 closure at milepost 47 between North Bend and Snoqualmie Summit, and a related video, may have fueled rumors, but no collapse was indicated.
Instead, infrastructure maintenance and construction projects near Redmond are causing or have recently caused disruptions.
The 90th St Bridge Overlay Project involved resurfacing work with a full weekend closure planned for summer 2024 to apply an epoxy overlay and repair seals.
The Ames Lake Trestle Bridge Replacement near Redmond closed Ames Lake-Carnation Road NE from June 2024 to April 25, 2025, for full replacement of the 100-year-old structure. An additional four-day closure occurred in July 2025 for joint repairs. The road reopened afterward, with final cleanup planned for fall 2025. King County stated,

The Downtown Redmond Link Extension includes construction on three SR 520 overpasses, leading to phased road closures and detours in recent years.
