Nov. 13, 2025 — Redmond, WA Redmond police arrested a 24-year-old man accused of following an elderly resident home and striking him in the head with a firearm during an attempted robbery on Oct. 16.
The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. at a home along 159th Ave. NE. According to the Redmond Police Department, the suspect drove a white Tesla and approached the victim as he unloaded groceries from a nearby 7-Eleven.
The elderly victim reported that a person driving a white Tesla approached him as he was unloading groceries, displayed a firearm, and demanded money.
When the victim said he had no money, the suspect struck him in the head with the firearm before fleeing, police said in a Facebook post.
Surveillance footage captured the suspect observing the victim at the 7-Eleven checkout before following him home. Officers used the video to identify the Tesla and tracked it to a residence in Renton.

On Nov. 5, police served a search warrant at the Renton home, recovering clothing worn during the robbery and a stolen firearm. The suspect was booked into King County Jail on charges of attempted robbery in the first degree, with bail set at $150,000.
No recent Redmond police blotters on the city’s CivicAlerts page mention this specific incident or any similar attacks involving machetes or swords. Earlier assaults in Redmond involved other weapons, such as a knife in August 2024, but no matching neighbor machete attack was found.
