Redmond WA Police Open Applications for 2026 Community Police Academy (Feb 26–Apr 30)

January 26, 2026 – Redmond, WA. The Redmond Police Department is accepting applications for its 2026 Community Police Academy.

The nine-week program is designed to strengthen community relationships while providing participants with a behind-the-scenes look at police work in Redmond.

The Community Police Academy will run from February 26 through April 30, 2026, with classes held every Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Sessions will take place at the Redmond Police Station, located at 8701 160th Avenue. Organizers note that class will not be held on April 9, 2026.

Applications must submit their form by February 13, 2026, and are required to submit basic personal information, including their full name, date of birth, email address, phone number, and physical address.

In addition, participants must provide a brief statement explaining why they wish to attend the Community Police Academy and what they hope to learn about the department.

Throughout the academy, participants will explore a wide range of topics that reflect the daily operations and specialized units within the Redmond Police Department.

Instruction includes an overview of patrol procedures, criminal investigations, and dispatch operations, giving attendees insight into how calls for service are handled from start to finish.

The curriculum also highlights specialized units such as SWAT, K-9, traffic enforcement, and the department’s use of drones in modern policing.

To receive a certificate after the program, participants must attend at least six sessions.

Following the academy’s location within a secure public safety facility, applicants’ criminal history will be screened as part of the admission process.
