Jan. 23, 2026 – Redmond, Wash. Lake Washington Kangaroos defeated the Redmond Mustangs 59–42 in a KingCo Crown-Crest Conference boys basketball matchup Friday night at Redmond High School.
The game was streamed on the NFHS Network, the official streaming partner for the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association. (WIAA) basketball.
Lake Washington, the league’s top-ranked team, controlled the game from the opening quarter, using ball movement and interior scoring to build a 28–18 halftime lead.
Redmond battled inside early behind senior center Cooper Coons, but foul trouble limited his minutes and shifted momentum.
Senior Julian Delique led the Kangaroos with 15 points, scoring on put-backs, finishes in traffic, and trips to the free-throw line. He also earned the Vickford Ford MVP honors.
Likewise, Matteo Cummings added 10 points, including two emphatic fourth-quarter dunks that energized the visiting bench and extended the lead into double digits.
Cummings was later named Defender of the Game, highlighted by that charge and two emphatic dunks that energized Lake Washington’s bench early in the fourth quarter.
Lake Washington used that momentum to open the fourth quarter with a decisive run, extending the lead to 58–42 with under two minutes remaining. From there, the Kangaroos ran down the clock as Redmond emptied its bench.
Despite the loss, Redmond showed depth and effort throughout the night, suiting up a large roster and continuing to compete until the final buzzer.
Lake Washington adds another conference win as the postseason approaches, while Redmond looks ahead to its remaining KingCo matchups with playoff positioning still in play.
