January 27, 2026 – The city of Redmond announced a temporary closure of the Redmond Pool after a sewer issue was identified in the surrounding area, prompting officials to halt operations until the problem can be fully assessed and resolved.
According to a service update shared by the City of Redmond Parks & Recreation Department, the pool will remain closed until further notice while city staff evaluate the situation and determine appropriate next steps.
The issue is related to sewer infrastructure and is not the result of routine maintenance or scheduled facility upgrades.
City officials emphasized that the decision to close the pool was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure public health and safety.
Updates regarding the Redmond Pool closure will be shared as new information becomes available.
In a separate statement, Wave Aquatics, which operates programs at the Redmond Pool, confirmed the closure and reiterated that the sewer issue is affecting the area surrounding the facility.
Wave Aquatics noted that it is coordinating closely with City of Redmond staff and will continue to relay updates through its own communication channels.
While the Redmond Pool remains unavailable, officials confirmed that the Juanita Aquatics Center is still open and operating as scheduled.
All programming at the Juanita Aquatics Center will continue without interruption, providing an alternative option for swimmers, familes and program participants during the Redmond Pool closure.
The Redmond Pool serves as a key recreational facility for residents, hosting a wide range of programs including swim lessons, competitive training, and community swim times.
Its temporary closure may impact many local families, but city officials say restoring safe operations remains the top priority.
