Jan 28, 2026 — REDMOND, Wash. — Lake Washington School District is asking voters to renew two levies on the February special election ballot, measures the district says are intended to preserve funding for core student programs, district operations, technology, facility maintenance, and school safety work across LWSD schools.
The request includes two separate propositions. Proposition 1 is the renewal of the district’s Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) levy.
In information shared with families, Eastlake High School PTSA said the EP&O levy helps cover staffing, student programs, and everyday operating costs that are not fully funded by the state.
The group noted the levy supports about 16% of the district’s overall operating budget, making it a major source of local funding that the district relies on for services families see in classrooms and schools each day.
Proposition 2 is the renewal of the district’s School Technology and Capital Projects levy.
The PTSA said the measure continues investments in school and district technology, along with technology training programs that support instruction and learning.
It also renews funding for capital needs tied to maintaining and improving school facilities, including repairs and updates to building systems such as HVAC, sustainability improvements, and safety and security systems.
The PTSA message framed the two levies as districtwide measures that “benefit every student,” and encouraged community members to share information with neighbors and learn more about what each proposition funds.
The district is also promoting online opportunities for residents to ask questions directly, including replacement levy town halls with Superintendent Dr. Jon Holmen scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 12 to 1 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 29, from 6 to 7 p.m.
Ballots are due by Tuesday, Feb. 10.
In addition to informational sessions, supporters are organizing outreach events through the end of January and into February, including sign-waving, doorbelling, and phone-banking, along with other volunteer opportunities.
The PTSA message also pointed families toward campaign donation and endorsement options, while emphasizing that word-of-mouth support remains one of the most effective ways to reach voters. Ballots are due by Tuesday, Feb. 10.
