Former Fred Meyer in Redmond Sells for $32 Million, Property Acquired in 2001

Feb. 3, 2026 – Redmond, Wash. The former Fred Meyer property in Redmond has sold for $32 million, marking one of the city’s most notable commercial real estate transactions in recent years.

The property is located at 17667 NE 76th Street and spans approximately 9.8 acres and includes a 139,000-square-foot retail building, a former garden center, and surface parking for more than 400 vehicles.

This site was originally acquired in 2001 and developed as a Fred Meyer store, which served the community for more than two decades.

According to public real estate records, the buyer is LTF Real Estate Company Inc., a Minnesota-based affiliate of Life Time Fitness, a national chain known for full-service athletic clubs. The seller was Fred Meyer Stores Inc., a subsidiary of Kroger.

Redmond Fred Meyer location was closed in October 2025, leaving the large retail site vacant and prompting speculation about its future use.

The property is zoned Urban Mixed Use, allowing for a wide range of redevelopment possibilities, including commercial, recreational, or mixed-use development.

While no formal redevelopment plans have been submitted to the City of Redmond as of this writing, Life Time Fitness has been expanding its footprint nationwide, and industry reports suggest the company may convert the site into a Life Time athletic club, pending city approvals.
