Three Teens in Ski Masks Point Airsoft Guns at Cars and Pedestrians in Downtown Redmond

Feb. 4, 2026 – Redmond, Wash. Police responded to reports of teenagers pointing what appeared to be firearms at people and vehicles near Downtown Redmond and Redmond Town Center on Tuesday evening, prompting a significant law enforcement presence in the area.

According to multiple witness accounts shared by residents, three teenage boys wearing ski masks were seen walking along 161st Avenue Northeast and nearby streets, carrying airsoft rifles and handguns that looked realistic.

Witnesses reported the teens pointed the guns at passing cars and pedestrians, and in some cases fired airsoft pellets at signs, buildings, and people.

Several residents said the teens’ behavior went beyond playing with toy guns. One individual reported being chased, shot at with airsoft pellets, and threatened, while others said the teens verbally harassed people near Redmond Town Center and nearby office buildings.

A large police response followed, with officers arriving quickly and positioning patrol vehicles throughout the area. Some residents noted that while the streets appeared calm, police activity increased a few blocks away as officers searched for the teens.

Community members familiar with the situation said the teens may have matched descriptions from earlier incidents, including reports of trespassing at a nearby construction site and similar airsoft-related behavior in recent days.

Police radio traffic shared publicly indicated the call was treated as high priority due to reports of masked individuals with guns.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed whether arrests were made or if charges will be filed. Police have not released an official statement detailing the outcome of the response as of Wednesday.

Earlier this year, the city announced the launch of its Speed Safety Camera Pilot Program, focused on reducing speeding and potential collisions in high-risk areas, particularly near schools.

Cameras will be installed at Redmond High School, Redmond Middle School, and Rose Hill Middle School.

Following the incident, Redmond residents are calling for the city to implement safety cameras as soon as possible to help prevent and reduce similar incidents in the community.
