$50,000 Reward Offered as Redmond Police Search for Bear Creek Trail Stabber Who Left Woman Critically Injured

Feb. 1, 2026, Redmond — A 57-year-old woman remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center after she was stabbed while walking on the Bear Creek Trail on the morning of Jan. 24, and police say the suspect is still at large.

Officers were called just after 10:45 a.m. after a passerby found the woman bleeding on the trail.

Emergency crews arrived within minutes and then took her to Harborview. Investigators say the attack appeared random and that nothing was taken from the victim.

Redmond police released a sketch and a description of the suspect. He is described as a Hispanic man about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build and a wide, bumpy face.

Witnesses said he was wearing a green hoodie with white lettering, jeans, and a black beanie when he fled on foot.

The victim was visiting the area and staying at a nearby hotel while visiting family, her husband said.

He asked to be identified only as Steve and praised the bystander who rushed to help.

“The surgical team’s here and the ER really gave us a path forward, and for that I’m super thankful,” he said.

“We’ve got someone out there who wants to kill people, and we need to get that person off the street for my wife and the community.”

A resident, Chris Hall, who uses the trail daily, said he heard a scream and then saw a man running before finding the injured woman.

“This was as senseless as it gets,” Hall said. “It was completely random. He didn’t try to take any of her belongings.”

Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound is assisting the family in offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and charges.

Redmond Police are asking anyone who was on the Bear Creek Trail between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Jan. 24 to check any dash camera, GoPro, or phone footage.

Detectives would also like to speak again with the Good Samaritan who helped guide officers to the victim.

If you have information, call Redmond Police at 425-556-2500 and ask to speak with a detective.

Anonymous tips can be submitted through the P3 Tips app, at crimestoppers.com, or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS.

The investigation is ongoing, and police say they will release updates as they become available.
