Teen Driver Arrested After High-Speed Drift Attempt Crashes SUV into Redmond Apartment Building

Feb. 17, 2026 — Redmond, Washington A juvenile male driver was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving after attempting a high-speed “drift” around a corner, losing control upon spotting a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and crashing an SUV through a fence down a 50-foot embankment into an apartment building in the 17100 block of NE 80th Street.

The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m., according to the Redmond Police Department. Witnesses reported the SUV, carrying the driver and two passengers, was traveling at high speed, ran a stop sign, and veered off the road after the driver lost control. No injuries were reported to the vehicle’s occupants, the pedestrian, or apartment residents.

Redmond police detailed the sequence in social media posts on Feb. 19, including on X, Facebook, and Instagram.
