Feb. 2026 – Redmond, WA – Alcott Elementary School in Redmond is taking part in a friendly Super Bowl wager with Douglas Elementary School in Acton, Massachusetts, creating a coast-to-coast connection between students and staff.
According to the Lake Washington School District, the wager was organized after Jon Hedin, principal of Alcott Elementary, connected with Larry Wolpe, principal of Douglas Elementary.
The two schools agreed to exchange local school and regional items following the Super Bowl, along with a congratulatory or consolation message based on the game’s outcome.
As part of the exchange, each school will also send a book written by a local author to the other, highlighting community pride and student learning beyond the classroom.
District officials said the wager is intended to build school spirit and encourage positive connections between students in different parts of the country.
If the Seattle Seahawks win, Principal Wolpe has agreed to wear Seahawks colors at his school the following Monday.
The Lake Washington School District shared the activity on social media, noting that students and staff are cheering for both the team and the opportunity to connect with another school community.
