Redmond Local Report is dedicated to providing accurate, fair, and timely news and information about the Redmond community and surrounding areas. As a hyperlocal news source, our mission is to inform residents, highlight community events, hold local institutions accountable, and foster civic engagement.
We strive to uphold the highest standards of journalism to earn and maintain the trust of our readers.
Our Core Principles
Accuracy: We are committed to reporting facts correctly. Every story undergoes fact-checking, and we rely on verifiable sources. When errors occur, we correct them promptly and transparently.
Fairness and Balance: We present multiple sides of a story when relevant, giving those involved a reasonable opportunity to respond. We avoid sensationalism, provocative headlines, or biased framing.
Independence: Editorial decisions are made independently, free from influence by advertisers, sponsors, donors, or outside interests. We maintain a clear separation between editorial content and advertising/sponsored material.
Transparency: We disclose potential conflicts of interest, sources (when possible), and any use of AI tools in content creation. Sponsored or paid content is clearly labelled as such (e.g., “Sponsored”, “Advertisement”, or “Partner Content”).
Accountability: We welcome feedback, corrections, and questions from the community. Readers can contact us via email.
Reporting Standards
Stories are based on reliable sources, including official records, social media posts, interviews, public documents, and on-the-record statements.
Anonymous sources are used only when necessary and when the information is vital to the public interest. We verify such information independently and explain why anonymity was granted.
We seek comment from subjects of critical or negative reporting whenever feasible and practical.
Photos, videos, and other media are used in an ethical manner. We do not alter images in ways that mislead viewers (manipulated images, if used for illustration, are clearly labelled as such).
We respect privacy and avoid unnecessary intrusion into personal lives, except when there is a clear public interest.
Corrections Policy
We correct factual errors as soon as they are identified. Minor corrections are updated in the article with a note at the top or bottom (e.g., “Updated: Corrected [detail] on [date]”). Significant errors receive a standalone correction notice, including what was wrong, the correct information, and when the correction was made.
If you spot an error, please email us at editor@redmondlocalreport.com with details.
Community Submissions and Letters
We welcome letters to the editor, guest opinions, event submissions, and tips from the community. Submissions must be original, fact-based, and civil. We reserve the right to edit for length, clarity, grammar, or libellous content, and not all submissions will be published.
Anonymous submissions are rarely accepted unless they meet strict public-interest criteria.
Advertising and Sponsored Content
Advertising does not influence editorial coverage. Sponsored or partner content is produced separately and clearly marked to distinguish it from independent journalism.
AI and Technology Use
We may use AI tools to assist with research, summarisation, or drafting in limited cases. Any AI-generated or AI-assisted content is reviewed, fact-checked, and edited by human staff to ensure accuracy and alignment with our standards. We disclose significant AI use where applicable.
Commitment to Ethical Journalism
Our work is guided by principles similar to those of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Code of Ethics: seek truth and report it, minimise harm, act independently, and be accountable.
This policy is reviewed periodically and may be updated as needed.
