Jan. 14, 2026 — Redmond, Wash. The GameStop store at Bear Creek Village (store #3038), 17128 Redmond Way, permanently closed on Wednesday as part of approximately 400 nationwide closures planned for 2026.
The closure marks one of nine Washington state stores shuttered recently, with most located around the Seattle area, according to the Seattle Times. GameStop’s official store locator now lists the location as “Closed Today,” with all operating hours marked closed and phone number (425) 869-2616.
GameStop recently pulled the plug on nine Washington stores as part of a slew of closures around the country, its website shows.

Founded in 1984 — the same year that Tetris was introduced — GameStop has found it difficult to level up in the modern era.

The Seattle Times business reporter Megan Ulu-Lani Boyanton detailed the affected locations on Jan. 16:
- Bear Creek Village: 17128 Redmond Way, Redmond
- The Village at Totem Lake: 12525 Totem Lake Blvd., Kirkland
- 164th Street Crossing: 1402 164th St. S.W., Lynnwood

A crowdsourced tracking blog updated Dec. 31, 2025, specifically noted the Redmond store’s closure on Jan. 14. Local radio station 92.9 The Bull reported the nine Washington closures on Jan. 12, citing the blog and stating plans for just over 400 U.S. stores.
The Seattle Times article attributed the closures to competition from Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Amazon, Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft, as well as technological advances like digital downloads. Company filings indicated nearly 600 U.S. stores closed in fiscal 2024, with “a significant number of additional stores” planned for fiscal 2025.
GameStop, founded in 1984, continues to operate more than two dozen stores statewide. This Bear Creek Village location is distinct from an older Redmond GameStop that closed previously.
