KCLS Redmond Library Open Amid Regional Winter Weather Closures

Jan. 18, 2026 — Redmond, Wash. The King County Library System’s Redmond Library remains open under normal operating hours on Saturday, with no reported closures due to recent winter weather or ice storms, unlike several other libraries nationwide.

The facility opens at 11 a.m. on Saturdays and is hosting events today, including ‘Engaging in Sapphistry: A Book Club’ at 2 p.m. and ‘Tutors at Redmond Library (Study Zone)’ from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. It will be closed all day Monday, January 19, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Local coverage from the Redmond Reporter shows no stories on weather-related disruptions at the branch. The library previously experienced a temporary closure for construction from November 18 to December 25, 2024, after which it resumed operations.

In comparison, X posts from January 17 detail closures elsewhere due to winter weather. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library stated it would remain closed on Saturday.

Due to the ongoing winter weather conditions, the Library and Museum will remain closed today, Saturday, January 17, 2026.

The FDR Library also announced closure through Sunday, January 18. Similarly, Darien Library closed on Sunday due to inclement weather.

Patrons should note this differs from the new Redmond Library in Redmond, Oregon (Deschutes Public Library system), which opened January 27, 2025, after construction.
