Local Volunteers in Redmond Library Make Valentine Cards for Seniors and Care Facility Residents

Show up if you can!

Jan. 22, 2026, Redmond— Volunteers will gather at the Redmond Library on Jan. 22 to make Valentine’s cards for local seniors and residents of care facilities.

This is an effort made by Indivisible Eastside, and the organizers say there is still space for people who want to help.

The two-hour session will take place at the library, 15990 NE 85th St., and anyone who wants to join is asked to register on Signup Genius using the access code “valentine” so hosts can prepare enough materials.

Organizers describe the event as part craft project, part community outreach.

Volunteers will write short, handwritten notes and decorate simple cards that will be collected and delivered to area senior centers and care homes before Valentine’s Day.

People are invited to bring extra markers, stickers, or finished cards if they prefer, although hosts will provide basic supplies for those who sign up in advance.

“This is about sending a small, kind message to someone who might not get one otherwise,” a member of Indivisible Eastside said. “A few minutes and a few words can brighten a whole day.”

Organizers asked volunteers to keep messages brief and upbeat and not to include personal contact details in the cards so staff at receiving facilities can hand them out quickly.

The Redmond session is one of several community efforts underway as Valentine’s Day approaches.

Ronald McDonald House Bend recently said a Redmond elementary school helped kick off its Send Love challenge by creating handmade cards for families staying at the house as Valentine’s Day is approaching.

That nonprofit invited others to mail or drop cards at 1700 NE Purcell Blvd in Bend as part of the same spirit of volunteer giving.

Back in Redmond, the library event aims to move finished cards efficiently into local care settings.

Organizers stressed the signup code so they can estimate how many kits to make and avoid running short of glue sticks or envelopes.

People who can’t attend but want to help are encouraged to make cards at home and drop them off at the library during business hours in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day.

For seniors and care residents who may get few visitors, those small notes can be an unexpected lift.

Practical details: the session runs two hours at the Redmond Library, 15990 NE 85th St. Sign up at Signup Genius and enter the access code “valentine.”

Bring any extra supplies you can spare, and plan to finish cards before turning them in so receiving staff can distribute them quickly.

This article is based on event information from Indivisible Eastside and a related post by Ronald McDonald House Bend.

If you can’t make the Jan. 22 session but want to help, local charities and care facilities often accept finished cards by mail or drop-off in the weeks before Valentine’s Day.
