Mac & Jack’s Brewing Closes Redmond Brewery After Nearly 30 Years, Relocates Production to Bremerton

January 18, 2026 — Redmond, Wash. Mac & Jack’s Brewing closed its Redmond brewery facility after nearly three decades, relocating production to Silver City Brewery in Bremerton due to upcoming zoning changes tied to Sound Transit’s rail expansion prioritizing residential development in 2026.

The closure was announced on October 14, 2025, with brewing operations shifting to the Bremerton facility starting October 15 and completing by year’s end to ensure continuity and growth under owner Ackley Brands. The Redmond taproom remained open through the transition, with its last day reported as January 4, 2026.

Zoning updates in Redmond, driven by the transit project, will impact the brewery’s longtime location, prompting the move for long-term stability, according to Washington Beer Blog.

“Mac & Jack’s has always stood for brewing authentic, relatable beers that stand the test of time,” said Seth McHone, General Manager at Mac & Jack’s. “By moving production to Silver City’s facility, we’re setting the stage for the next 30 years of Mac & Jack’s while honoring everything the brand has meant to the Washington craft beer scene. Fans across the state can look forward to enjoying the same Mac & Jack’s beers they know and love, brewed with the same care, and at a scale that allows us to share it more widely.”

“This change is about ensuring that Mac & Jack’s remains an integral part of Washington craft brewing history—not just for today, but for generations to come,” added Brandon Ackley, President of Ackley Brands.

The partnership allows shared production space at Silver City for flagship beers like African Amber, maintaining quality amid increased scale. Ackley Brands, which acquired Mac & Jack’s in 2023 and Silver City in June 2025, emphasized support for affected employees during the transition.

Mac & Jack’s, founded in 1993 by Mac Rankin and Jack Schropp with brewing operations in Redmond since 1997, shared taproom closure updates via Instagram (@macandjacksbrewingco), as noted in Kitsap Daily News.
