Overlake Basketball Dominates Senior Night in Redmond with Boys 177 Points and Girls Big Win

Jan. 29, 2026 – Redmond, Wash. Overlake School’s varsity basketball teams closed out a strong stretch of play heading into senior night, highlighted by high-scoring performances from the boys team and a key late win by the girls, according to remarks shared during the “Two Owls Talking Sports” podcast.

During the past week, Overlake’s boys varsity team recorded three wins, including a 53–44 road victory over University Prep, an 85-point performance against Granite, and a 92-point road win at Northwest.

The three games combined for 177 points across the final two contests, marking one of the program’s highest scoring stretches in recent years. As a result, the boys moved into the top 10 of the state RPI rankings.

The girls’ varsity team added two wins during the same stretch. They defeated University Prep on the road to complete a season sweep, then followed with a four-point home win over Vashon. The Owls’ girls team evened its record at 7–7 and has won four of its last five games after a slow start to the season.

Senior night festivities were scheduled to take place during a rivalry matchup with Bear Creek.

Both varsity teams entered the game ranked among the top programs in the state, with league standings and playoff positioning on the line.

The event was set to include pregame senior recognitions, student section activities, and a blackout theme in the gym.

The podcast episode also featured several senior players from both teams, who reflected on their time in the program and the significance of senior night. The show was hosted by Mike Davidson and Overlake athletic director John Wy and was streamed on YouTube and the NFHS Network.
