Recology and Redmond Officials Celebrate Grand Opening of New Store in Bella Bottega Shopping Center

Dec. 12, 2025 — Redmond, Wash. Recology and City of Redmond officials, including Mayor Angela Birney, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony from 1-3 p.m., to mark the opening of the new Recology Store at the Bella Bottega Shopping Center, 8862 161st Ave NE, Ste. 104.

The store provides residents a hub for dropping off hard-to-recycle items, accessing Waste Zero resources, and receiving sustainability guidance ahead of Recology assuming waste services for the 98052 zip code on Jan. 1, 2026.

The City of Redmond announced the store on Dec. 3 as part of the transition to Recology, selected via competitive bid and approved by City Council on Aug. 5, 2024.

Services include in-person bill payments, account assistance, and expert advice, with contract enhancements like expanded curbside recycling for Styrofoam, free bulky item pickups, and support for vulnerable residents.

Recology’s press release on Dec. 15 recapped the event, noting the store’s role in education, workshops, and community engagement. It joins four other King County locations that diverted over 5,000 tons from landfills in 2024.

“The opening of our Redmond Store reflects Recology’s dedication to helping communities achieve a world without waste,” said Anthony Brocato, General Manager, Recology King County. “By partnering with the City of Redmond, we’re supporting local communities through accessible recycling programs, education, and reliable waste solutions that keep materials in use and out of the landfill.”

“This store is a great example of the enhanced customer service Redmond residents can expect from Recology, as well as Recology’s commitment to sustainability practices,” said Mayor Birney. “I’m proud of the work that city staff did to get us here, and I look forward to our partnership with Recology going forward.”

The City of Redmond listed the event on OneRedmond, and Recology’s Redmond page provides ongoing details.
