Recology Opens New Store in Downtown Redmond Amid Expanded Waste Services

Dec. 12, 2025 — Redmond, Wash. Recology celebrated the grand opening of its new Recology Store at the Bella Bottega Shopping Center (8862 161st Ave NE, Ste. 104) with a ribbon-cutting event from 1 to 3 p.m., marking the company’s transition as Redmond’s waste hauler for the first time in over three decades.

The store offers residents a drop-off point for hard-to-recycle items such as Styrofoam, batteries, and fluorescent bulbs, sales of Waste Zero products, consultations with sustainability experts, account assistance, and in-person bill payments.

It supports Recology’s expanded garbage, recycling, and compost services, which launched January 1, 2026, including weekly pickups, broader curbside recycling options, free bulky item collection, and discounts for vulnerable populations.

“The opening of our Redmond Store reflects Recology’s dedication to helping communities achieve a world without waste. By partnering with the City of Redmond, we’re supporting local communities through accessible recycling programs, education, and reliable waste solutions that keep materials in use and out of the landfill.”

— Anthony Brocato, General Manager, Recology King County

“This store is a great example of the enhanced customer service Redmond residents can expect from Recology, as well as Recology’s commitment to sustainability practices. I’m proud of the work that city staff did to get us here, and I look forward to our partnership with Recology going forward.”

— Redmond Mayor Angela Birney

The contract, authorized by the Redmond City Council on August 5, 2024, aims to reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions. The Redmond store joins four other Recology locations in King County, which diverted over 5,000 tons of material from landfills in 2024, preventing more than 10,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions.

The event was listed on the OneRedmond community page. The City of Redmond announced the opening on X (formerly Twitter) days prior.

On January 12, 2026, Recology King County posted on Facebook, marking one month since the opening and thanking attendees for sustainability discussions. The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce reported the opening on January 14, 2026.
