Redmond Police Arrest Man Linked to Multiple Residential Burglaries in Affluent Neighborhoods

Jan. 4, 2026—REDMOND, Wash. — Redmond police arrested 37-year-old Kent resident Jose Luis Roja Escalona in connection with a series of residential burglaries in affluent neighborhoods across Redmond and nearby cities, including Bothell, Sammamish, and Bellevue, authorities announced Friday.

Escalona was booked into the King County Correctional Facility on a residential burglary charge. Investigators believe he is part of an organized group that operates in teams to burglarize homes, focusing on wealthy communities rather than specific individuals.

The arrest stemmed from a months-long investigation by Redmond detectives, bolstered by collaboration with other law enforcement agencies and tips from the community.

Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe said:

“This arrest resulted from a diligent follow-up investigation by Redmond detectives, continuous collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, and, most importantly, community involvement. It sends a clear message to criminals that we will not stop until they are apprehended and brought to justice.”

The suspect is linked to burglaries in Redmond’s Woodbridge neighborhood, where security footage captured two individuals in dark clothing fleeing a home with a large bag in October.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance video, victim reports, and witness statements with partner agencies to confirm additional connections.

Redmond police continue to probe whether the crimes extend to neighboring communities. The department’s official newsflash emphasized that the case remains active, urging residents with information to call 425-556-2500.

In a video message on Facebook, Chief Lowe reiterated the team’s efforts and noted the burglars’ methodical approach. KOMO News reported that as of Friday, the suspect had not been officially charged.

To deter future burglaries, police recommended installing deadbolt locks, window grates, audible alarms, motion-activated lights, and out-of-reach cameras.

Homeowners should secure valuables in off-site safety deposit boxes or bolted-down safes and report suspicious activity or vehicles by calling 911.

Lowe advised

“Keep an eye out for suspicious activity and call 911 to report any persons or vehicles in the neighborhood that are concerning,

The chief added in the video:

“If you see something, say something,”
