Redmond Police Renew Call for Tips in 2017 New Year’s Eve Cold Case Murder of Adrian Anguiano

Dec. 19, 2025 — Redmond, Wash. Redmond Police Department renewed its appeal for public tips in the unsolved 2017 murder of 20-year-old Adrian Anguiano, who was shot and robbed outside a New Year’s Eve party at the Trails of Redmond Apartments.

The incident occurred on January 31, 2017—Washington state’s first homicide of the year—during a chaotic gathering of over 200 people advertised on social media. Anguiano was shot in the neck near a cabana and robbed of his Louis Vuitton backpack. Many attendees fled before police arrived, complicating the investigation.

No arrests have been made nearly nine years later. Detectives have identified most partygoers through surveillance video and interviews, but believe key witnesses or information remain outstanding.

Redmond PD Lt. Jesse Bollerud, featured on FOX 13 Seattle’s The Spotlight with David Rose, explained the challenges:

“It was a New Year’s Eve party, friends getting together that kind of expanded and got out of hand, I think, further than the original intent. Unfortunately, the result of it was this tragedy.”

Bollerud noted that most attendees did not know Anguiano or were not present during the shooting:

“You know, the challenge for me as an investigator was initially just identifying everybody there… Because by the time police had arrived and started to take control of the scene, most people had left and fled.”

The renewed push aims to jog memories as time has passed:

“You know, a decade’s a long time, and for a lot of people, they can have a change of heart, maybe want to assist in the investigation at this point.”

Anguiano’s sister, Mayra Mora, expressed ongoing pain:

“I think that’s what’s hurting even more, knowing that that person is out and about living their life and my brother’s up in heaven.”

Bollerud hopes the publicity will yield breakthroughs:

“Our hopes in airing this story is just to bring renewed attention to it, hoping to find that one missing piece… to be able to give closure to his family.”

Tips can be submitted anonymously via the P3 Tips app, by texting, or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Police urge anyone recognizing individuals in surveillance footage to come forward.
