Redmond Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect After Stabbing Near NE 72nd Way Trail

Jan. 23, 2026 — Redmond WA. Redmond, WA Police seek the public’s help in identifying a suspect following a stabbing reported near the trail in the 16200 block of NE 72nd Way.

According to the Redmond Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Jan. 24 to a report of an in-progress assault.

A caller reported seeing a female victim on the ground with multiple stab wounds and observed a possible suspect fleeing the area.

Officers located the victim and immediately rendered aid before medics transported her to a hospital. Police said the victim later stated that she did not know the assailant. Her current condition has not been released.

Police described the person of interest as a male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a green hoodie or jacket, blue jeans, and a black beanie or hat. Initial descriptions listed the suspect as possibly White or Asian.

In a later update provided at 10 a.m. on Jan. 25, police stated a witness described the suspect as Hispanic or Asian.

The police department says the suspect remains at large, and officers continue to actively investigate the incident. Police have advised the public not to approach anyone matching the description.

Following the incident, the WA Police has shared facebook post asking people to immediately call 911 if they sees aa person matching the suspect’s description or have information related to this incident.

Those with tips or additional information are also encouraged to contact the Redmond Police non-emergency line at 425-556-2500 and ask to speak with a detective.

With that being said by authorities, many commenters reported possible sightings, with some claiming they had seen a person matching the suspect’s description. However, no official confirmation has been released to the public by the police department.
