Jan. 27, 2026 – Redmond is set to gain 328 new affordable homes near the Overlake Village light rail station, a project aimed at closing a critical housing gap and expanding access to transit-oriented living by 2028.
The development, known as Prisma and led by Bellwether Housing, will feature a six-story mixed-use building with 328 affordable rental homes for households earning between roughly 30% and 80% of the area median income.
The project will include a mix of studios, one, two, and three-bedroom units, with ground-floor commercial and community space designed to serve residents and neighbors.
Prisma is located adjacent to the Overlake Village light rail station, part of Sound Transit’s Link light rail network, which opened in Redmond in 2024 and connects the city with major employment and transit hubs in Bellevue and Seattle.
Officials estimate construction will begin in early 2026, with completion and occupancy expected by 2028.
The development is designed to support diverse households, including families and individuals, and aims to integrate affordable homes with transit access, employment opportunities, and neighborhood amenities.

Moreover, the project has secured support from public and private partners, including pre-committed funds from King County and eligibility for funding from state and corporate sources.
Bellwether’s plan also includes community-oriented features such as open space and ground-floor uses intended to support local small businesses and services.
City officials have said the development represents an important step toward addressing Redmond’s housing needs as the local population and job growth continue to increase.
Placing affordable homes near transit aligns with the city’s broader goals of expanding housing options, reducing commute barriers, and creating vibrant, walkable neighborhoods around light rail stations.
Prisma is one of several projects underway in Redmond that reflect growing efforts to increase housing affordability while supporting sustainable, transit-oriented urban growth.
