Redmond Traffic Stop for Expired Tabs Leads to Two Arrests on Warrants

Jan. 16, 2026 — Redmond, Wash. Redmond police arrested a driver and passenger on outstanding warrants after a routine traffic stop for expired vehicle tabs on Redmond Way, highlighting the role of minor violations in apprehending wanted individuals.

The incident occurred on Jan. 13 around 11:30 p.m. An officer noticed the expired tabs and pulled over the vehicle. A records check confirmed the driver had an outstanding warrant, leading to her detention.

Officers then observed that the passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. When asked for identification, the passenger provided false information, including a fake name and an incorrect birthdate.

After supplying accurate details, checks revealed multiple outstanding warrants, including one for a felony. Both occupants were taken into custody without further incident.

“This incident highlights the importance of officer awareness and thorough investigation during routine traffic stops to help ensure public safety,” the Redmond Police Department stated.

The arrests were also referenced in a Redmond Police Instagram post describing the stop on Jan. 13.
