January 10, 2026 – Redmond, Wyatt Horner placed his name into Redmond High School history after delivering a milestone moment that Panthers fans will never forget.
During a 70-67 tight-contested win against La Grande, Wyatt surpassed Redmond legend Maarty Leunen to become the school’s all-time leading scorer.
Horner knocked down a three-pointer in the first quarter to reach 1,169 career points, moving past Leunen’s previous record of 1,168 points.
Wyatt, a 6-foot-3 combo guard wearing No. 12, has been a cornerstone of Redmond High boys basketball throughout his four-year varsity career.
The game against La Grande was a hard-fought battle from start to finish, with both teams trading runs and answering each other’s momentum.
La Grande gave their best until the final buzzer, but the Panthers held firm to secure the three-point victory.
Following the game, both Panthers and La Grande came together at midcourt for shared prayers, a moment that resonated deeply with player highlighting good sportsmanship.
The Redmond community also poured out its support and admiration for Horner.
Redmond High Panther Athletics summed up the sentiment simply, expressing pride in Horner and recognizing the historic nature of his accomplishment. Through their Facebook handle, they wrote,
