Redmond, Oregon Interpreters Seek Community Support to Fully Fund Critical Scholarship Program

Feb. 10, 2026 – Redmond, OR The Oregon Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, ORID, is calling on the community to help fund an additional scholarship after receiving more qualified applicants than available funds for the current cycle.

According to the organization, this is the first time in several years that scholarship applications have exceeded the available budget. ORID currently has funding to support two applicants but hopes to raise enough money to provide a third scholarship.

Organizers say the three applicants represent critical populations in Oregon, and their work plays an important role in ensuring accessible and high-quality interpreting services across the state. Scholarship funds help interpreters cover the costs of certification exams and professional development training, which can be financially challenging.
